EdgeTech+ is “…an event that realizes customer-driven value creation with a new plus for edge technology”, where one can get the latest information regarding embedded technology and the IoT (Internet of things).
At their booth Candera showed off a variety of demos for use cases in the consumer and industrial markets, all using its new product Candera Studio.
■Industrial Oven
This demo shows off smooth animations and screen transitions on Renesas Electronics’ RZ/G2L microprocessor and implements a bright design commonly used in modern smartphones and electronics.
■Treadmill
Running on Renesas Electronics’ RZ/G2L microprocessor, this demo effectively combines 2D and 3D elements for treadmills with large screens. With such a GUI, users would be able enjoy running more through enhanced graphics and entertainment.
■Robotic Arm
Using the data binding feature in Candera Studio, this demo showcases a robotic arm with a built-in Raspberry Pi 4 Model B that moves in sync with a 3D model of the arm in Candera Studio. By integrating the 3D model into Candera Studio and creating a control panel, the robot can be controlled via the buttons on the screen.
■Excavator
This demo made on a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B uses a Python program to determine the state of a rotary encoder, a sensor used to measure rotation. Using data binding, the angle of the chassis and arm of the excavator then move in accordance with how the rotary encoder was rotated.
■Thermometer/Humidity Gauge
Candera also showed off the design for a thermometer/humidity gauge that was created by “pascal1985”, the winner of Candera’s design contest that took place this past summer. This demo, which runs on STMicroelectronics’ STM32MP157F-DK2 microprocessor, shows the 3D water level and graduation changing in accordance with the temperature and humidity values and also includes a button to toggle dark mode on and off.
In addition, many visitors attended the lectures about Candera Studio which were held multiple times a day.
